Okay, glad we moved a step further with this :-)
This current error looks more like something from opkg, but it would assume the packages are broken.
I also see some strange symlos and concatenated strings in the output, which is really strange (e.g. the last line in your post). That's strange and may still be related to the networking.
Let's double-check the opkg settings you have. What does "cat /etc/opkg/*.*" show you?
